Seniors

LINK

New to Nativity is our LINK programme. Aimed at the over 50s (though we have welcomed teenagers during school holiday times) LINK meets Friday afternoons at 1 p.m. in our lounge for fellowship and to enjoy the afternoon together with discussion, board games (e.g. Scrabble and Rummy-O) etc.

SENIORS

“They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green…” Psalm 92:14

Here at Nativity we are blessed with people from a wide range of backgrounds and ages. We value deeply the contribution our more mature members make to the life of the church. Not only do they receive ministry through involvement in Sunday services and care cells, but many are willing to minister to others within the church and into the wider community.

In association with other Christian churches, seniors along with other parishioners, conduct regular services in the eight local Rest Homes. Senior members are involved in a whole range of ministries such as prayer chains, visiting the sick and lonely, bereavement support and home communions.

Twice a year we honour our mature members by putting on what has come to be known a “Soup and Buns” afternoon. Older members are invited to a relaxed afternoon get together. Those unable to drive are collected and taken home afterwards. The afternoon consists of a rousing sing-song (carols are sung at the end of year function) followed by soup and buns in mid-winter, or a scrumptious afternoon tea prepared by the members of our catering ministry.

Judging by the enthusiasm and lusty voices of the older folk we can truly say with the Psalmist - They still bear fruit in old age, and they will stay fresh and green!
