Wedding FAQS1. How do I check if my date is available?
You can check if your date is available by contacting the Parish Administrator, either by phone or email from Tuesday - Thursday 9:00am - 2:30pm. 2. How much will it cost to book Nativity for a wedding? Ask for a copy of our current 'Wedding Pricing Guide' or feel free to pop in and discuss your wedding package with us. 3. How do I book my wedding? To book your wedding, contact the Parish Administrator either by phone or email. 4. Do you allow couples from other churches? Yes, but you must be married at Nativity church by an Anglican minister. 5. Do you marry divorced persons? We seek to be as compassionate and helpful as possible. So in simple terms if there is no “going back”, we aim to help you “go forward”. Your preparation for remarriage will need to be tailored to address the known factors divorcees face. Each couple will be given all possible help toward a fresh start. 6. Do we have to be baptised or 'Anglican' to be married at Nativity? NO. There are no requirements to be Anglican or baptised to be married at Nativity. 7. Are there specific vows that need to be said, or can we make our own? When a couple marry, they enter into Holy Matrimony, which is a holy, sacred relationship that God has made for them. The vows made at your wedding bind the bride and groom to marriage itself, as much to each other personally. At Nativity we offer a set selection of vows from which you can choose that reflect the historic and sacramental nature of your marriage. 8. What preparation is required? Once you book your wedding with us, we will provide you with a 'Marriage Pack'. This will include information about the church, cost of wedding, what’s allowed or not, legal requirements, marriage liturgies, hymns and songs, readings for weddings, and reflections for weddings. You will also be required to complete a Marriage Preparation course with your minister. This is approximately 5 x 2 hour sessions and is usually held at Nativity Church. 9. What music is provided? Our wedding package includes a professional organist. Alternatively you may provide your own music. 10. How many does Nativity church seat? Nativity is ideal for all size groups from quite small to very large weddings. Being a large church it can seat up to 230 people. Its design however, allows groups as small as 30 to sit in the front middle seats allowing a very intimate and close service. If your wedding is very small, you may choose to hold it in our Barnies chapel, which provides a beautiful intimate setting. 11. What parking is available? Our church carpark has approximately 60 parking spaces. 12. Do you have facilities for refreshments after the ceremony? There are some options for hiring church facilities for refreshments for your guests before they move on to your reception. Bookings can be made in conjunction with your wedding booking and will incur an additional cost. For more information, please contact the church office on 03 578 3909. Please note that Nativity Church has a "no alcohol" policy. |
