What should I expect at
sunday services?

Every week we meet on Sunday to
  • hear God speak to us through His Word (the Bible),
  • talk with God through prayer and praise, and
  • encourage and support one another in the journey of Christian spiritual growth.
Even though we come from a variety of backgrounds and ages that span the generations, our common ground is that we all trust in Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Saviour.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
If you're not familiar with church services, or with how we do things in an Anglican church, the pointers below might help you feel more comfortable so you can concentrate on what God might have to say to you during the service.

All of our services include the following parts:
  • Bible readings
  • Hymns, songs and other music
  • Prayers, and
  • a Sermon.
8:00 am:
This is a shorter service and each week follow the communion liturgy. The music is usually traditional hymns and organ music.
10:00 am:
Communion is held during the service most weeks. The music is a mix of traditional hymns and contemporary songs. There is a children's program for those aged birth through to around 13 years old.
5:30 pm:
The Canvas service is very informal. It is held in the church hall and together we share fun, fellowship and food as we learn about following Jesus together.
DURING THE SERVICE
Children sit with their parents at the beginning of the service, but are free to go to Kids Church when it is announced early during the service. Of course, you can choose to have your children sit with you throughout the service.

Communion is offered for any Christians. Communion is provided at the front of the church, If you don't want to receive communion you can either come to the front with the others for prayer or simply remain seated during this time in the service. If you are unable to come to the front for any reason, but still wish to partake in communion, please let a greeter know before the service begins so that we can accommodate you.
  • Communion for children is at their parents' discretion. Children will receive a blessing from the minister unless parents indicate otherwise.
  • During communion, the prayer station is located in a designated area at the front right hand side of the church.

Our worship has three main distinctive components:
  1. Hearing God's Word explained: The main part of our time together each week is hearing God speak to us. God has promised to speak to us through the reading and explaining of his written Word – the Bible. Every time we meet together we read from the Bible and then we listen as one of our leaders explains the meaning to us. The important thing is God’s message in the text (what we read in the Bible). As the preacher shares with us God’s message from the Scriptures, God’s Holy Spirit shows up and drills it into our hearts.
  2. Music: Christianity is about relationship – loving God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength. And music helps us to express our love, devotion, and thanksgiving to God, and in the process to deepen our understanding of Him.
  3. Prayer: We use ancient prayers to confess our sins, ask for God’s help in worship, and to intercede for our community and the world. These prayers bring the wisdom of the past to help us to pray with one voice in a Biblical and healthy way.
