Sentence:

Divided tongues, as of fire, appeared among them, and a tongue rested on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them ability. Acts 2:3–4

Collect:

Holy Spirit of God, as of fire, forging, purging, all-consuming: touch us with love, purge us from the dross of sin and self, so that we may tell your glory in the furnace of the world. With the Father and the Son, you live and reign, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Readings:

  • Romans 8:14-17
  • Acts 2:1-21
  • John 14:8-17

Questions:

  1. What is the significance of Pentecost if people had received the Holy spirit in the past?
  2. What was the outcome of the disciples speaking about 'God's deeds of power' in other languages?
  3. What is the explanation Peter gives of this event to the crowds?
  4. What is the goal of mission?
  5. Discuss the giftings or activities of Christians and the church and how they can play a role in making God known

We have a variety of tools that we are working on to help small groups 'connect'. These include activities that you can choose to do together as a small group worship service.
Remember that these are simply a starting point for your small group - you may discover other tools or activities that suit you better. If you do discover something fabulous, please share it so others may also be encouraged.

We thank the Diocese of Wellington for their work in forming the framework for the house church liturgy.
