Readings: Acts 8:26-39 & 1 John 4:7-21
 
Sentence:  So Philip ran up to it and heard him reading the prophet Isaiah. He asked, “Do you understand what you are reading?” He replied, “How can I, unless someone guides me?” Acts 8:30–31
 
 Collect: Gracious God, You call us your own and love us beyond measure; In the rising of your Son we are made a resurrection people, Free us from the old ways, Make us faithful disciples, So that we can share with others what you have freely given to us, Through Jesus Christ our liberator and friend.  Amen

A Spiritual House

Readings: Acts 6: 1-10 & 1 Peter 2:1-10

Sentence: Come to him, a living stone, though rejected by mortals yet chosen and precious in God’s sight, and  like living stones, let yourselves be built into a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
1 Peter 2:4-5
 
Collect: Holy Giver and Receiver of life, Your martyr, Stephen, shined with the light of your Holy Spirit. When his opponents took his life, he offered up his spirit to you, and prayed mercy or theirs. Make Stephen an example of faith and courage for all your followers, for the sake of the one who brought light and life to this world, Jesus Christ. Amen.

Sentence: A great number of people would also gather from the towns around Jerusalem, bringing the sick and those tormented by unclean spirits, and they were all cured. Acts 5:16
 
Collect: Almighty God, by the glorious resurrection of your Son Jesus Christ you have broken the power of death and brought life and immortality to light; grant that we who have been raised with him may triumph over all temptation and rejoice in the hope of eternal glory; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
