Bishop Steve, Parish and Diocesan nominators are thrilled to be able to announce the appointment of the Rev. Glen Ashworth to the position of Vicar of Blenheim (Nativity). Glen, aged 43 years, is presently the Vicar of St. Aidan’s Remuera where he has been since arriving there as a Deacon in 2015 and ‘progressing through the ranks’. He has a Bachelor of Theology degree and an Honors Degree in Biblical Studies. His background is in education, having a Bachelor of Education degree and having taught three years in Taupo (his home town) as Head of Art at Lake Taupo Christian School. Glen is married to Sarah Jane and they have three young children; Lilly 11, Finn 9, and Daisy 6. Sarah is a Children’s Ministry Coordinator and student. For recreation Glen plays badminton. Glen describes his ministry style as collaborative/consultative. He sees his main focus being the development of our Christian faith and practice for the work of ministry in all areas of our lives. Alongside this is the coming together for mission as a church and a focus on sharing the gospel in all its fullness. The adventure to move South in response to God call now begins. Glen will take up his appointment on February 1st 2021. We are looking forward to this new season of ministry at Nativity with anticipation and excitement after what has been a long parish interregnum. We are profoundly thankful to God for the many people who have assisted us through this period, who have sustained ministry and helped us prepare for this new season. Let us uphold Glen, Sarah and the children in our prayers as they prepare to leave Auckland and settle in Marlborough.
